New Gautier police chief and captains sworn in and pinned

There’s a new police chief in town. City officials came together for the pinning ceremony of Gautier’s police chief and new captains.

Reaching the highest rank as a police officer, Chief David Bever is pinned with the badge to prove it.

Bever has worked with the Gautier Police Department since 2005, working up the ranks. He was promoted to sergeant in 2016, lieutenant in 2017, and served as captain since August 2020.

He patrolled the streets of Gautier, is one of the top K9 officers in the country, gained the respect of other officers, and is a strong leader.

Bever tells News 25 “this is a dream come true and I’m happy my son got to see it. He loves that I’m a police officer.” “Since I started in law enforcement, my ultimate career goal was to one day be chief of police. I’m really still soaking it in, it means a lot that all these people came out. My first priority is recruiting because we have openings and we’re trying to get fully staffed by the end of the year.”

Also pinned and promoted tonight was Captain Bubba Allmand and Captain Jothan Hunter.
