New fire station coming to Biloxi

Biloxi City Council members were briefed Tuesday afternoon on a project to build a new fire station.
The long awaited three million dollar facility is going to be constructed near the intersection of Popp’s Ferry and Cedar Lake Road where a manufactured home has acted as the fire station since 2000.
City Councilman Kenny Glavan tells News 25 the project has been in the works for over a year and the new facility will benefit the City of Biloxi in many ways. “If you look at the plans and look at the footprint, it’s going to provide the training that the fire department needs to reduce response time. What does that mean? It means that we will improve the fire rating which can reduce commercial insurance rates, residential insurance rates, but more importantly we can protect property for citizens and commercial businesses.”
Construction of the fire station is expected to begin in late 2018.
