New exhibit at Walter Anderson Museum of Art

The story of St. Patrick is full of colorful myths and legends just like the new exhibit on display at WAMA.

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art’s new exhibit showcases rare block prints Walter crafted. Anderson enjoyed folklore and often depicted it in his artwork.

In some of the block prints, you’ll see inspiration from tales just like those surrounding St. Patrick.

The prints are widely reproduced today by the Anderson family, but the museum has pieces he painted and printed himself during the 1940s. WAMA Executive Director Julian Rankin said, “If you look at these prints, he’s talking about the land of fairies, of magic, and wonder all around the corner. That’s a theme that’s through his art. St. Patrick’s Day is about flora, about growth, and Anderson, of course, was all about those things.”

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is open every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
