New dog park now open in Harrison County

Our furry friends have a new hangout spot in Harrison County.

A new dog park is now open in Gulfport off County Road. The park is located on the grounds of the Harrison County Equestrian Ring.

The idea for the new four-legged hangout came from District 2 Supervisor Rebecca Powers.

The park features a small dog park, holding areas for nervous dogs to get used to the area, and safety gates to keep pets safe.

Agility courses are on the way that are sure to keep your best friend entertained. Fairgrounds Director Greg Whitfield said, “Give the locals a place to bring their dogs and for their dogs to be able to let loose and have a good time. It’s four acres big. We’re looking for it to be the biggest dog park in Mississippi and we’ve got it right here in Harrison County District 2.”

There will be a grand opening of the new dog park in the future.
