New businesses start construction in Gulfport

Since the beginning of the year Gulfport has continued to see development in multiple areas.

The most recent construction began along Highway 90 near the Markum Building, where the future Patio 44 restaurant will sit. Now, many with the City of Gulfport are calling it the domino effect as new businesses continue to show interest in the area.

David Parker with the City of Gulfport tells News 25 this is the most development Gulfport has seen in years. “As I hear almost daily from people that have rejuvenated interest in relocating to Gulfport and downtown because they now finally see construction underway on these big landmark projects that we’ve been working on for so long.”

A few of those landmark projects are the Mississippi Aquarium and the hotel going in at Centennial Plaza. Both projects are expected to be completed in 2019.
