New bar set to open in Barq’s Building in Biloxi

At the block party, it was also announced that The District on Howard has leased its first space in the historic Barq’s Building.

A prohibition-era handcrafted cocktail bar will be moving into the space that used to be Wachovia Mortgage and will focus on highlighting the history of Biloxi, including its name ‘Bilocchy.’

The name is one of the alternative names for the 1699 settlement, originally known as Fort Maurepas.

Its name is only one of many ways Owner Scott Gremillion plans on making Bilocchy a unique destination on the Gulf Coast. “Can’t find this anywhere else on the Coast. I mean, where else can you find a vault that you can have a drink in and have an intimate setting like this? And where else can you find some molecular cocktails that we’ll be doing and some of the more interesting things that you might see in larger cities.”

Bilocchy is set to open in either the summer or fall of 2021.
