New art galleries open to the public at the Mary C. O’Keefe Center
It’s Opening Day for two new art galleries at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center in Ocean Springs.
Local artists Jerrod and Jessie Partridge created a gallery showing a timeline of their art, their lives together as husband and wife, and growth of their family. Jerrod, the painter, hand makes the paper he uses in his portraits.
The second gallery, ‘Local Creatives-Mother’s Nature,’ highlights work from artists Sarah Jenkins and Catie Daniel.
Both art galleries will show through May. Mary C. Arts and Culture Coordinator Sarah Qarqish said, “I’m so happy that the community is invested in our galleries here. We have two galleries in the east wing of the Mary C. It’s amazing to feel the love and for people to care about art and to come and support our local artists, our local creatives. They’ve worked so hard and Ms. Pat Penson and myself have curated these galleries and it’s turned out to be absolutely beautiful.”
The galleries are open during Mary C. business hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
