Neighbors Tap and Table hosts book drive in honor of Dolly Parton
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV0- Neighbors Tap and Table in Downtown Gulfport held a celebration of Dolly Parton’s life and legacy, turning a day of tributes into an opportunity to give back.
The event featured Dolly’s greatest hits, her movies, Dolly-themed drink specials, a drag show, and a sing along.
One dollar from every Dolly drink was donated to Dolly’s Imagination Library.
Owner of Neighbors Tap and Table Matthew Bounds asked everyone who attended to bring a book to donate to the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence. “Well, everybody loved Dolly and so did we. We just wanted to create a day for everybody to come together, celebrate Dolly in their way, and have a place to do it. I think giving back to the community in this way with the book drive going to the Center of Nonviolence is something Dolly really would’ve loved. So far, the community has been overwhelmingly supportive, we had a full house this morning and we have a ton of people saying they’re coming back tonight. So, I think it’s going to be a really good turnout.”
The event not only celebrated Dolly’s legacy, but also turned the celebration into an opportunity to support local organizations.
