NCAA Football: Southern Miss vs. Florida State

In Shreveport today, the Southern Miss football team looked to upset Florida State at the Independence Bowl.
The Eagles, who ended the season 8-4, and the 6-6 Seminoles were both looking to finish the year off with a final win. Florida State beat USM 42-13.
Southern Miss Head Football Coach Jay Hopson said, “What hurt us early was the first possession defensively. We had a chance to get a stop there already up 6 and get the ball back but we had a couple of off sides penalties that kind of moved the chains and gave them a first down. On one it was third and five, they snapped it over the quarterbacks head and you know how it is if you can get a quick stop there and maybe get the ball and get a little momentum going, you get a chance to see in the third quarter, fourth quarter see what happens but I give them credit deserve to win.”
