NCAA Baseball: Southern Miss vs. Ole Miss
There are a lot of Atlanta Braves fans in South Mississippi and tonight, most of the die-hards from the Pine Belt found their way to Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg where the 2021 World Series Trophy made its way to the Hub City.
But the two teams actually taking the field were Southern Miss and Ole Miss, thinking about finding a way to win a different kind of world series.
Omaha on the brain for the 14th ranked Golden Eagles and visiting Rebels.
Ole Miss wins this one 4-1, but still a fun night at the Pete, whether Ole Miss or Southern Miss fan, almost everybody was a Braves fan. Jonathan Brent said, “Braves haven’t won one of those in my lifetime or hers, so it’s pretty awesome to take a picture with the first one of our lifetime at our favorite park in America at the Pete.”
Ansley Brent said, “I honestly can’t describe it. It’s really exciting. I remember I saw in the Tweet that it was coming and I cried and I immediately texted him – and he already knew it, of course – so we were sure to get a ticket and of course two hours early. It makes it more real that’s for sure. Because honestly it’s a fever dream, so I’m really excited to see it.”
The World Series trophy will be on the Coast tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Town Green in Biloxi.
