Navy sailor surprises family during school day in Moss Point

A Navy sailor is reunited with family after surprising her niece and nephew during their school day in Moss Point. The heartwarming welcome is all caught on camera.
“I missed her. I haven’t seen her in a while.” Returning home from Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Navy sailor Jamila Love’s first stop was Magnolia Middle School in Moss Point, surprising her niece and nephew right in the middle of class. Sixth grader Kamyah Love is Jamila’s niece. She said,“My stomach dropped because I didn’t know what was going on and I was curious to see who it was going to be and when she walked in, I was excited and super surprised.”
Sixth grader Kamyah held her aunt tight and when Love surprised her nephew, Thomas, in the eighth grade classroom, he was speechless. The petty officer second class says she doesn’t get to see family all too often. On this day, it felt good to return home. “Being home for me is just a break from the daily stress of the military life, all the hospitality,” said Love.
Love joined the military six years ago. She became an aunt at age 13. She says since then, her niece and nephew has served as her inspiration. “I like to think of myself as a positive role model for them especially with all the negativity going on in the world. I just try to make sure no matter what every chance I get to come and be with them,” said Love.
“It’s sad being away from her, but at least we get to call her. She means very much to me. I love her very much.”
