Navy features new virtual experience

Also at the Bicentennial celebration is the kick off for Gulfport’s Navy Week.
This begins the week of one of the Navy’s largest outreach programs and parked out by Centennial Plaza this weekend is a very unique opportunity to get a hands-on new virtual reality experience of what it feels like to be a part of today’s Navy.
This mobile display gives users the chance to put headphones on and pilot a high-speed assault craft or extract Navy Seals from enemy territory.
U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Jack Reynolds said, “We’re a very advanced military and use the technology of 2017 to allow them to have a better experience and a better understanding of what we do. It allows them to see what the boat is like and what they’re doing and their mission and such.”
The virtual experience technology will be on hand for anyone interested in trying it out this weekend. Navy officials will also be showing it to students at Harrison Central High School Tuesday and Wednesday.
