Navy Band Southeast performs at Gulfport High School

Two hundred students at Gulfport High School listened to Navy Band Southeast’s performance as part of Mississippi Gulf Coast Navy Week.
Twenty five Navy band musicians came all the way from Jacksonville, Florida to spread the message of the Navy in areas that don’t see a lot of sailors throughout the year.
Today, they performed for the students who may be interested in band, showing them that there is an avenue for music in the military. Navy Band Southeast Chief Musician Josh Neumeyer said, “It gives a positive avenue for them to pursue. A lot of these kids have no idea there is a military band at all. People in general don’t know a lot about the military bands. So, just to come in here and see, especially a lot of these music students have kind of an ‘aha’ moment, like ‘wow, I could be up there doing that,’ is, I think, really important.”
Navy Band Southeast will close out their Gulf Coast visit with a Friday night jam at Fishbone Alley.
