NATIONWIDE MANHUNT ENDS WITH MURDER SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
A nationwide manhunt is now over. 28 year old Alex Deaton is in custody after leading Kansas state troopers on a pursuit early Wednesday morning.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop a black Cadillac around 7:50 Wednesday morning. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle involved in a shooting at a convenience store earlier in the morning. Deaton, the driver, did not stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Eventually, Deaton crashed the car and the vehicle caught fire. Officials say Deaton was immediately placed into custody without incident.
Deaton is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend in Rankin County, Mississippi. He is also the suspect in an aggravated assault in which he allegedly shot and injured a jogger in Rankin County. Deaton is also considered a “person of great interested” in the murder of an elderly woman at a church in Neshoba County.
Tuesday night, Deaton was spotted in New Mexico and is the suspect of an armed carjacking, kidnapping, and shooting incident there.
All of the charges for Deaton are pending at this time.
