National Voter Registration Day: 100 Day Voter Registration Blitz
According to U.S. Census date from 2020, as many as one in four eligible Americans are not registered to vote.
Every year, millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register.
National Voter Registration Day wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote.
Gulfport community leaders have organized a 100 Day Voter Registration Blitz that lasts until November 2nd to get local citizens the information and resources they need to let their voices be heard in the next election. Extend a Hand, Help a Friend CEO Jeffrey Hulum III said, “We have got the information out to over 15,000 people. We have got the Secretary of State’s number to at least 300 people from our website alone and to us that means a lot because elections have been lost on the Gulf Coast between 1 vote 400 votes or 500 votes. So, us getting this information out and the people showing a willingness to receive the information and project their efforts into this voting apparatus that lets us know we’re moving in the right direction.”
You can call 1-844-MSVOTER. They will provide a free ride to the Circuit Clerk’s Office to get a voter ID.
