National Travel and Tourism Week

The 38th annual National Travel and Tourism Week is a week which unites communities to celebrate what travel means to American jobs, economic growth, and personal well-being.

To celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Main Street Tourism Bureau set up an information booth inside the Jackson County welcome center to showcase the amenities offered throughout town.

Tasty samples from area restaurants, artwork from a variety of shops, giveaways, live-artist demonstration’s, and information pieces were a part of the chamber’s booth. Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cynthia Dobbs Sutton said, “Ocean Springs is still a hidden gem in many aspects of our community. So, this is just one way to kind of tell everybody what Ocean Springs has to offer. Ocean Springs is a small town with 18,000 people. We have a walkable downtown. We have over 100 restaurants and bars in the small area. So, being at an event like this just coming out and showcasing Ocean Springs for National Tourism Week is just one way to show the community, the world, the tourist, the regional traffic, what Ocean Springs has to offer.”

In 2020, Ocean Springs welcomed visitors from 43 states and seven countries, distributed more than 30,000 visitor guides and welcomed more than 50 new businesses to the community.
