National School Breakfast Week
It is known as the most important meal of the day and this week schools in Harrison County are recognizing national school breakfast week.
This morning kids at Lizana Elementary enjoyed a Doctor Seuss themed breakfast of green eggs and ham.
This week is all about encouraging kids to eat breakfast and highlighting the links between the first meal and academic achievement and performance.
Lizana elementary is also hosting their own school breakfast challenge.
“We provided these cards on Monday and every morning they grab a breakfast they get stamped and we’ll do different treats throughout the week but when they bring this back on Friday each student will receive a special treat and then I’ll take the cards and put it in the drawing drum and pull out names for bigger prizes.”
– Laura Cuevas Cafeteria Manager
Each breakfast this week at Lizana Elementary will have a Doctor Seuss theme like Lorax oranges and Cat in the Hat parfaits.
