National Night Out educates the community on public safety

Last night was a night of learning and fun in Hancock County as Diamondhead celebrated National Night Out.

Citizens of Hancock County were getting a little more familiar with their first responders last night. Emergency response vehicles, games, and education were some of the many highlights of this free family fun event.

Demonstration stations were set up throughout the parking lot, giving guests the opportunity to learn first hand what to do in a crisis.

Kids were able to explore the insides of their favorite emergency responses vehicle while learning public safety measures.

Captain Edward Wally of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says events like this are needed. “These are the people they see on the streets everyday and that’s the people we need to be involved with. So, being able to bring all these different people out with these different agencies, that’s the true blessing when it comes to events like this so the community can actually see and meet the people working for them.”
