National Night Out at Moss Point Riverfront Park
South Mississippians were down at the Moss Point Riverfront Park for a night of family fun and a chance to learn more about crime prevention.
The City of Moss Point hosted this year’s National Night Out against crime event in cooperation with District Attorney Angel Myers Mcilrath.
First responders from across Jackson, George, and Greene counties joined together to spend a fun evening with the community.
Organizations such as Crime Stoppers and domestic violence advocacy groups also had booths up.
Children participated in activities with officers, including a donut eating contest.
This is the 40th year of National Night Out and the goal is still the same to build strong relationships between first responders and the people they serve. “When things come to me, the crimes already happened. I want to prevent crime from happening, and that can only happen when communities and law enforcement work together. And so, it provides an opportunity for them to get to know each other, to build relationships, to build trust. And also, just to come out together and say ‘You know what, we’re not going to tolerate crime in our area.”
