National Library Week
Now is the perfect time to dive into a good book as libraries across America celebrate National Library Week.
Since 1958, the goal of the week has been to draw the attention of children away from T.V. and radio and back towards reading.
Most Coast libraries have scheduled a full week of events in observance of the week, including the Harrison County Library System. They have announced that any existing late fees will be dropped for all books or movies returned during National Library Week. Mike Alexander with the Harrison County Public Library System said, “This week, in addition to late fee forgiveness, we’ve got all kinds of events going on. It’s a good time to remind people that we have book clubs, we have computer classes. We have story times for the kids. There’s always something fun going on here at the library.”
Library officials say late fees will not be dismissed for items that have been lost, damaged, or destroyed.
