National Girl Scout Day
Girl scouting in the United States begin around 150 years ago. Sunday, March 12th, was National Girl Scout Day.
The first troop meeting began in Savannah, Georgia where only 18 Girl Scouts were present. Now there are over 3.7 million members in America.
To kick off National Girl Scout Day, members were out and about selling Girl Scout cookies to raise funds for their activities. However, this will be the last week to get your cookies before the season is over. Moriya Ariff said, “Last year they went to see the dolphins. We have other girls who went on an eco-excursion last year. The money that the girls raise for the Girl Scout cookies is the majority of the money that we use throughout the year to plan our activities.”
To find out where the Girl Scout troops are selling their cookies visit the Girl Scout website, find the cookie tab, click on digital cookie and enter in your zip code.
