National Donut Day

Today is the perfect day to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Breakfast spots around the country are celebrating National Donut Day. Dunkin Donuts offered free donuts with a purchase of any beverage.
Last year, the Biloxi location gave about 300 free donuts to Gulf Coast customers. Crew members tell News 25 customers’ top choices are Boston cream and glazed.
Customers say the free treats give their mornings a boost. Cynthia Mitchell said, “Sure it does. Nothing beats a sugar rush.” Jennifer Harris said, “I think it does, I think showing your co-workers you care is a great way to start the morning.”
Krispy Kreme also has a National Donut Day special and is giving out free donuts to their customers.
The tasty tradition actually started with the Salvation Army in Chicago. Volunteers used the tasty treats to comfort American soldiers in France and Germany during World War I.
