National CPR Week
This week the American Heart Association is getting hands on with hands only CPR lessons for communities across the Coast.
Ninety percent of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital won’t survive. However, CPR, especially if performed immediately, can change that.
There were multiple groups teaching the proper techniques in three coastal counties today, but if you missed out, you’ve got another chance to catch classes in Jackson County and Harrison County over the next seven days as part of National CPR Week. American Heart Association Regional Director Laura Koury said, “Of course, we’re very passionate about your heart and our community’s heart. We want everyone to know the skills that we have and the tools and resources that the Heart Association has to improve the health of our community. National CPR Week starts June 1st every year. We scattered ourselves around the six Coastal counties and we’re teaching residents hands only CPR which is a very important tool to know in case you’re in an emergency situation and you need to perform hands only CPR on someone until the ambulance gets there.”
Properly performing hands only CPR can triple the recipients chance of survival in many emergency situations.
