National Commander Visits Gulfport American Legion Post 119
The national commander of the American Legion made a stop in Gulfport during his trip across the United States to speak to military veterans.
Commander Dale Barnett is collecting input from local veterans on issues such as the VA medical healthcare system. He plans on taking that information to congressional leaders so they can improve the quality of life of our veterans.
With a large population of active and retired military service men and women here on the Coast, Commander Barnett has plenty of people to work with. He tells News 25 he is excited to share his passion of helping veterans here in Gulfport. “I’m a Desert Shield, a Desert Storm veteran. I’ve been associated with veterans. My father was a World War II veteran. Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our nation and I think it’s the right thing for our nation to do everything they can to provide quality healthcare and a concern about the issues of our nation.”
