NASCAR joins other leagues, postpones races nixing plan to race without fans
NASCAR made an official announcement on Friday morning that it will postpone its races for this weekend in Atlanta and the following weekend at Homestead-Miami.
NASCAR becomes the last major North American league to react to the concerns over the Coronavirus. On Thursday, NASCAR said it would continue racing, but with only essential personnel and no fans allowed at the track.
In the statement NASCAR said “we believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our fans, competitors, officials and everyone associated with our sport. We will continue to monitor this dynamic situation as we assess future race events.”
