NASA hosting virtual STEM-A-THON

NASA is inviting participants to enjoy a day-long virtual STEM-A-THON tomorrow.

The virtual event is open to students and members of the general public to explore the possibilities with NASA. The STEM-A-THON will include live presentations and multiple activities.

It will also feature NASA professionals from various areas of work and will focus on presenting information and opportunities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Samone Wilson, public affairs specialist with NASA Stennis Space Center, tells News 25 this event will help pique the interest in many young children. “We know that educators are so important to helping to cultivate young minds and so NASA just wanted to be a part of that because we really want to build a strong and diverse work force. So, we know that that starts in the classroom and so we just wanted to provide fun activities to hopefully encourage them to pursue careers in STEM.”

The event is one of several NASA activities planned in conjunction with American Education Week being celebrated November 14th through the 20th.
