Naming rights sponsorship for the New Orleans Superdome ended Thursday
For the first time in ten years, the New Orleans Superdome is unattached, no longer taking the first name Mercedes-Benz.
Today, the contract with Mercedes Benz officially came to an end and crews were quick to remove the signage early this morning.
Mercedes-Benz became the first naming rights sponsorship in Superdome history when they agreed to that ten-year deal worth between 50 and 60 million dollars in 2011.
Since that time, they’ve entered into a new partnership with Atlanta and its Mercedes Benz Stadium, the home of the Falcons.
According to WDSU, the Saints have been in talks with Caesars Entertainment to become the next Superdome sponsor. If that deal goes through, it would be the first gaming related sponsor of an NFL Stadium.
