NAACP hosts debate for Harrison County sheriff candidates
The NAACP hosted a debate for those running for Harrison County sheriff.
The main topics of the evening were prison reform, including the current staffing issue and low pay, as well as gun violence.
One thing both candidates agreed on to help end gun violence is education and being involved with younger generations about gun safety.
Both candidates agreed that the issues brought before them were happening, but each had their different strategies to fix them.
Deadly force and police brutality were also a topic of interest at which both candidates said they would have zero tolerance for racial profiling.
NAACP Biloxi President Herschell Pargo hopes this debate gave the community the answers they were looking for. “I’m so glad that the community came out and participated in this forum. And I hope that they got the answers that they need from this forum and they can take it back into their communities and let the rest of the community know what’s going on.”
The NAACP will be hosting another forum on July 15th at the Gruich Center that will include all candidates running for office.
