Mystic Krewe of Pine Island rolls through Vancleave
The Mystic Krewe of Pine Island paraded through the puddles in Vancleave Saturday.
The dedicated riders and paradegoers preserved through the rainy weather to carry on the community’s 35-year-old tradition.
The makeshift floats rolled down the wet streets throwing beads to paradegoers dressed in their best purple, green, gold, and rain gear.
Organizers will tell you their parade is like none other because anything goes. All you have to do to ride in it is get in line. Volunteer Gene Rouse said, “There’s no real organization to this. It was just a group that got together and decided they would have a Mardi Gras parade. After that it just bloomed and carried on every year.”
The theme for this year’s parade was ‘Casino Night.’
