Myles Brennan’s role increasing at LSU
With each passing game, the future of the LSU football program is starting to collide with the present. St. Stanislaus alum Myles Brennan is that future, but he’s also becoming a part of the now.
On Saturday, Head Coach Ed Orgeron pulled the plug on starting quarterback Danny Etling, allowing Myles Brennan to see some meaningful reps as early as the third quarter versus Syracuse. It was a mixed bag of results for the Tigers as he led them down the field for a touchdown on his first drive, but later threw his first collegiate interception in the fourth quarter.
In the end, LSU came away with the 35-26 win and a more experienced true freshman. “We wanted to give Myles Brennan some reps when the game was on the line and see what he can do and obviously he did well in some situations, got to get better in other ones. Danny is our starting quarterback, but we just wanted to give Myles the chance when the game was on the line,” said Orgeron.
So far, Brennan has appeared in three of LSU’s four games.
