Murder Trial Delayed
The trial for a Coast man accused of killing his cousin has been delayed.
Twenty-six year-old Chris Fairley was scheduled to appear in court this morning for trial. Fairley is accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Mark Fairley in the summer of 2015.
Biloxi Police Department responded to a call in July of last year of shots fired within an Iron Works Gym parking lot just off of Eisenhower Drive. When police arrived, they found Mark Fairley deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Today, Mark’s mother and family showed up to court only to be told it has been postponed. Mark’s mother, Remonia Carter, says she is seeking the maximum penalty for her son’s death. “If it were Mark, and I know how we raised him, I would want the maximum penalty for him because I would say he knew better and he would know that he knew better and it’s just not right and not only would Mark have caused their family to hurt, but our family to hurt too. That’s just too many families hurting. Why would you want to do that?”
Chris Fairley’s trial has been reset for March 13th, 2017. He is currently out on bail.
