Municipal elections for city residents

Today some polling places told residents they were in the wrong voting area.
The elections today are for city voters only. County residents are set to vote for the general election on June 6th.
One Gulfport voting precinct at Lyman Elementary only had 10 out of 1,200 voters show up by midday and had to turn away voters who were at the wrong voting precinct. Polling manager Terrie Fleming said, “A lot of them kept saying they didn’t know anything about it because they never heard anything. I guess because it’s just a city thing, nobody was really out there campaigning. There was no information relayed and so the people were just kind of caught off guard. You’re passing by and you see ‘vote here’ and everybody’s stopping in because they see the vote, but when they come in they don’t know what they’re voting for.”
