Multipurpose Harbor Market coming to Long Beach
You may have seen a big red sign on East Beach Boulevard in Long Beach that says a harbor market is soon coming to town.
A big banner hanging on the facility that was previously Brackish on the Long Beach Harbor has many in the community wondering what exactly is the Harbor Market. “What’s coming is a new concept for the area, it’s an open air market based off of designs out of Seattle, San Francisco and even now New Orleans.”
Harbor Market General Manager Quentin Denney tells us they are planning on building a stage on the west side of the building that will host live bands four nights a week. There will also be a bar and a farmers market on the same side. “Flowers, meats, vegetables, fruits, cheeses, breads, all the things you would find at a traditional farmers market, we want to have it in one place, seven days a week.”
Over on the east side of the facility, Denny tells us they will host up to eight pop up boutiques. There will also be a select space in the parking lot for local vendors. “We really want someone to get comfortable and stay for the long run so you’ll know hey that vendor is in the harbor the whole time so you can come down here to the market.”
Inside the building, walls will be knocked down to provide an open format food court style space for six restaurants. “You will come up, pick a restaurant, there will be open seating, but off to the sides there will be different amenities.”
On the west end of the building there will be a 360 bar and on the east end, Denney tells News 25 they are planning on bringing in a coffee shop and an arcade for the kids. The facility is being developed by the same owners of Bacchus and Fillup with Billups and is expected to be completed early September. “It’s clean, it’s pretty, it is welcoming. There is no better place for an idea like this or a footprint to house something like this then right here on the harbor.”
