UPDATE: LHP re-opens interstate after multiple crashes close roadway at Pearl River bridge

Louisiana Highway Patrol closed the interstate in both directions for about 90 minutes this morning after multiple crashes near the Mississippi-Louisiana line.

LHP reported multiple crashes in the westbound lanes on the Louisiana side of the East Pearl River Bridge early this morning.

Mississippi and Louisiana departments of transportation issued the advisory.

By 7:30 a.m., troopers closed the interstate and advised motorists to seek an alternate route to Louisiana. The interstate re-opened by about 9 a.m.

Also this morning, the City of Gulfport advises that Wilkes Bridge on Cowan-Lorraine Road/Highway 605 is closed due to ice on the bridge. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
