Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month
The month of March kicks off with Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.
It’s an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that incorrectly attacks the healthy tissues. Some of these symptoms include blurred vision, numbness, and even paralysis.
More than 2.3 million people are affected worldwide and there is no cure. Dr. Lennon Bowen said, “So a lot of the research going on for treatment is looking for some of the things that may be kicking off the disease process or starting it up, some of the environmental triggers potentially. Also now, looking for ways to save the brain cells and nerve cells and how to reverse some of the damage that’s done with MS.”
To help spread awareness, the National MS Society is having their annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Walk in Ocean Springs on Saturday, March 11th at 9 a.m.
