MSAG shares statement relating to META youth mental health settlement

META has reached a nearly $18 billion settlement to end a landmark lawsuit.

The deal resolves claims from 29 states that the company’s platforms like Facebook and Instagram harmed young people’s mental health.

This comes just over a week after a trial began in California.

Under the agreement, META’s payment will fund youth online safety initiatives in many states.

The social media giant will also impose new daily time limits for teens.

META does not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch released a statement saying the move will spark transformational changes for protecting kids from social media harm and that other social media platforms should follow the standard META has set.
