MS Secretary of State swears in as NASS president

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — The National Association of Secretaries of State wrapped up its annual conference at the Beau Rivage today, capping off the event with the induction of a new president – Mississippi’s own Michael Watson.

The conference kicked off on Monday morning, bringing together non-partisan secretaries of state from across the nation for a four-day event. The conference closed out on Thursday morning with the swearing in of a new president for the association.

Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson will be taking on the role for the 2025-2026 term.

Watson says that his plans for the next year are to focus on three things – voter roll maintenance, human trafficking, and cyber security, noting that election integrity is crucial.

He says he’s honored to have been chosen for the role and is looking forward to leading the association and making positive changes through collaboration with secretaries from each of the 50 states.
