MS Rising Coalition hosting protest for La’Mello Parker
Mississippi Rising Coalition is hosting a protest Saturday at Jones Park in Gulfport.
In a social media post, they’re stating that it is “time to stand up for La’Mello and our communities” and “the time for polite requests for transparency has passed.”
On May 3rd, three-month-old La’Mello Parker was shot and killed along Interstate 10 during a shootout between law enforcement and the infant’s father.
Gulfport police, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Harrison County sheriff’s deputies were involved in the final moments on Interstate 10. Biloxi police are handling the ongoing investigation.
The protest will take place Saturday at Jones Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
