MS Power Works Hard to Restore Power After Severe Weather
Mississippi Power crews have been out in full force in the most damaged areas. About 3,600 customers in Columbia, the hardest hit area, were without power. Police have been stationed at all major intersections to direct traffic. Outages were also reported in nearby Jones and Lamar Counties. Power has been restored to all but around 200 customers.
Natalie Campen, Mississippi Power Media Relations, says, “Yeah, there have been storms that have hit during the holidays, I mean, our weather doesn’t give a break no matter what the calendar says. We can have storms pop up at different times of year and anytime there’s a storm, it may cause some outage and disruptions for people. We work to safely and quickly restore that power so that our customers can get on with their lives, and especially during the holidays it’s important so everyone can get back to the enjoyment of celebrating the season.”
Crews expect to have all homes back up and running by Wednesday evening.
