MS Dept. of Employment Security awarded grants for shipbuilding

The Mississippi Department of Employment Security has been awarded over $5.7 million as part of more than $86 million in industry driven skills training fund grants from the Department of Labor.

Mississippi intends to use this grant exclusively for shipbuilding, expanding training programs for major employers like Ingalls Shipbuilding, Bollinger Shipbuilding, and United States Marine Inc.

This investment will help ensure Mississippi residents have the ability to enter a high-paying field with skills needed, along with reimbursing employers for training high-demand and emerging industries, and address critical workforce needs in fields such as welding, marine electrical work, and manufacturing.
