MS against Mandates host rally after federal judge blocks vaccine mandate for healthcare workers

A group gathered for a rally in Gulfport over the weekend after a federal judge blocked the vaccine mandate for healthcare workers in Mississippi.

Mississippi against Mandates had planned rallies at Pascagoula and Gulfport hospitals before the mandate was temporarily lifted.

The protest became something of a celebration outside Memorial Hospital with the awareness that the mandate could be called back into place.

Organizers say the group advocates for the rights of both employees and employers, that the government should have little say in matters of personal health care.

Memorial Hospital reps did not provide comment. Mississippi against Mandates Organizer Lindsey Lemmons said, “We want to really reinforce the individual relationship, the personal relationship, between the doctor and the patient. And if you’re having this mandated through your workplace, it does remove some of that oversight that really only belongs in your personal relationship with your doctor. Secondly, one thing we love to bring attention to is that a lot of these decisions are coming from guidelines that are directed by appointed positions and not elected officials.”

Soon to be announced, the group is planning fundraisers for its legal defense fund.
