Moving Forward with Keesler Gate Replacement
The Biloxi City Council hired an appraiser to keep the ball rolling on the Keesler gate project.
The appraiser will take a look at the properties at Forrest Avenue at Division Street. Those homes sit on the piece of land the city is looking to acquire to turn into the location of the new main gate for Keesler Air Force Base.
City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “This is a project that has state and federal support. We’re working closely with Keesler and this is just another step in the process. What our job is is to make sure that we’re fair and equitable with all property owners as we move forward. There are three or four houses that are right there on Forrest Avenue at Division Street and what we’re going to be looking at is doing that part of it first.”
Once the appraiser has made the adequate appraisals, they will be presented to the City Council to approve the purchase of those properties and begin construction.
