Movie being filmed at the Scarlet Pearl Casino

The Scarlet Pearl Casino has been getting a lot of attention lately, especially when a picture on their Facebook with the owner and actor John Travolta has been shared over 700 times.

It is no secret that a movie is being filmed at the Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville. Production scouted multiple casinos on the Coast before choosing which they liked best. It did not take them long to choose Scarlet Pearl after production stepped foot in the building, immediately falling in love with the place. CEO LuAnn Pappas said, “I got the phone call. I did think it was a joke and then they called back and they called back again. So, they called several times then said can we meet and I said sure, but I have about 15 minutes and they were here in 17 minutes. I learned a lot through doing this. It does take up a lot of time. They film at crazy hours. They take some time off and I think it was last week they filmed until 2 in the morning.”

Filming for the movie has taken place throughout the casino, changing some places to fit certain sets including adding a pickle ball court in the parking garage. Even casino staff are involved, having minor parts in the film and signs are out informing visitors about production. Owner Bob Granieri said, “It’s terribly exciting, obviously. It’s not something we do on a daily basis. So, it’s somewhat disruptive to the crew here, but over all we’re having a great time doing so. It’s a great thing for the entire Coast actually. We’re just honored that they are here.”

Not only is this production filmed right here on the Coast, but it will have famous actors such as John Travolta and Rapper Quavo starring in it. “The stars of the film have been so open, so friendly with everyone, with our guests as well as our staff. Mr. Travolta, when he has to traverse the casino in some way, he will use the back hallways, mingling with our employees. Quavo has become an international hit. He has been a gentleman.”

The filming started at the beginning of April and production plans to wrap up at the end of this month if everything goes according to play. “There are rumors that another film is coming our way. We’re really excited about it. So, this experience may open up many doors for us, but we’re certainly enjoying it.”
