Moss Point’s Sue Ellen Recreation Center set to receive major renovations

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV) –A beloved community center in Moss Point is set to receive major renovations after a tornado forced its building to close doors.

Since the storm, the Sue Ellen Recreation Center has remained closed.

The city’s 2% food and beverage tax has helped fund the project after early struggles to secure the necessary financing. Phase one of the renovation project is expected to cost nearly $600,000 and will focus on upgrades such as a new roof, fresh flooring, and replacement of air conditioning units.

Moss Point City of Parks and Recreation aims to complete phase one in January of 2026.
