Moss Point’s Robyn Lee driving force in run to Oxford

On Thursday, Moss Point just one win away from its first state title in girls basketball in school history.

Robyn Lee and the Lady Tigers will take on Ripley at 5 p.m. Thursday from the Pavilion at Ole Miss.

Ripley is the same team that put Moss Point out last year in the Final Four, the kind of history that won’t repeat itself if Lee has anything to say about it. Moss Point Head Coach Ethan Porter said, “I told her two more games left. We just need two more games out of you, and you ain’t got to touch a basketball for as long as you want. I don’t even care. You can put the ball down for a month, so definitely. And the team understands that. The team knows that. And they know that they have to do their part and their roles. And Robyn knows that. She’s very appreciative of what they do defensively and taking care of the ball when they have to. But yes, if we want to win a state championship make no mistake, Robyn Lee is going to have to show up and she’s going to have to have a big game.”

Lee has scored 56 points over Moss Point’s last two playoff games which comes out to 66 percent of the team’s scoring.
