Moss Point students get ready for new year at Back to School Rally

With the school year right around the corner, the Moss Point School District put on a fun event for its students to get back into the Tiger Spirit.

Students and parents lined up outside of Jerry Alexander Stadium in Moss Point getting ready for the annual Back to School Rally.

Students from each grade in the district from elementary school through high school entered the gates as they were greeted by vendors from different organizations giving out free book bags, school supplies, and other items.

The high school band and cheerleaders made their way to the event also to spread some Tiger Spirit.

Last year, the event saw about 600 students and this year, the district expected to see even more. Moss Point School District Communications Director Jaleasa Bolden said, “We do this thing to take the ease off the parents. We want our kids to come to school ready so we give them supplies, so that’s one less thing parents have to worry about. It’s also an opportunity for our students to kind of buildup that Tiger Spirit as school starts. We are looking for high expectations this school year, and so we kind of set our expectations of our students at the back to school rally.”

The district will return to class on August 4th.
