Moss Point students get history lesson

Magnolia schools have existed since 1902 and three structures have been built and torn down or burned down since then.
The current Magnolia Middle School was built on the same site in Moss Point in 2013. Today, members of the Magnolia Monarch Alumni Association wanted to give the students who occupy the middle school a history lesson on what it was like to walk those halls many years ago.
On hand to share stories about historical moments at the school was Ms. Inez Greene, who is one hundred years old and one of the last principals before the school became integrated. Magnolia Middle School sixth grader Keara Millender said, “I saw that we as a school can come together and became ‘A’ school or better, even though you can’t get better, but we can come together and it’s good to learn the history about our school and the Monarchs and the Tigers and why we can be and always will be Magnolia.”
Inside the middle school, there is a hallway named after Ms. Greene as well as other members of the Magnolia Monarch Association who are now deceased.
