Moss Point Sports Hall of Fame Inductees has been announced for 2024

We have some exciting news out of the River City! The second class of Moss Point Sports Hall of Fame has been revealed for 2024.

The executive committee of the Moss Point Sports Hall of Fame announced its latest 18-member class on Tuesday. 

Ten of the 18 honorees attended one of the two, pre-1970 high schools in Moss Point, five are monarchs of Magnolia high school, and five are tigers of Moss point high school. The remaining eight honorees graduated from the combined Moss Point high school.

Barry Gibson – (1972) – Football, Baseball and Track

Annie Laura Betts Seawright Jimmerson – (1951) – Basketball, Track and Field and Softball

Alcender Jackson – (1996) – Football

Samuel Andrew Leslie – (1923) – Baseball

Brenda Lewis – (1977-2010) – Softball, Track, Soccer and Basketball Coach

Claude William Passeau – (1928) – Baseball, Basketball and Football

Ashelia McCovery – (2000) – Track and Field (Shot put and Discus)

James William (Jimmy) Shields – (1963) Basketball and Baseball

Tony Marcel Sipp – (2001) – Football and Baseball

Edgar Roosevelt Tanner – (1955) – Basketball and Football

Pamela Taylor-Jacobs – (1987) – Basketball

Delores Judy Washington – (1962) – Basketball and Track

 

The banquet to honor these inductees will be held on September 19th. Congratulations to all 18 athletes, and the incredible Moss Point legacies you all have left behind.
