Moss Point School District celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

It’s October and Moss Point School District is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Students from all grade levels came to learn, indulge, and celebrate Hispanic Heritage.

Select elementary students wore clothing representing the countries their families are from. Traditional food like rice, beans, queso and chips were served to honor popular Hispanic dishes.

Put on display for learning, school projects highlighted the history of different Hispanic countries, the cultural outfits, food, and styles of music. Moss Point Spanish Teacher Saadia Paz said, “They are going to learn about different traditional games, Latin games and Latin music. They are also going to play some Latin games. They are going to have fun learning the culture. It’s a really nice community, Moss Point High School. So, I just say welcome to everybody to come to this community and enjoy and have fun.”

Interactive crafts like homemade maracas and cookie decorating gave the students activities to take home.
