Moss Point Residents Wanting Peace to Protest
In the wake of all the recent violence in Moss Point residents say they’re fed up and it’s time to take a stand for peace.
Members of Moss Point’s Visionary Circle plan to hold a peaceful protest next Monday. It will be at MP Express gas station in Moss Point, where an argument on Monday afternoon led to one man being taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds.
According to police, the owner of MP Express got into a heated argument with a man on a bike who allegedly stole items out of the convenience store. The argument escalated to a physical altercation which then led to the owner pulling out a gun and shooting the other man. No charges were filed on anyone involved.
Charlotte Brown with Moss Point Visionary Circle said, “We’re concerned about all the things that are happening at this particular business. It’s not the first incident and we need some awareness. It seems like things are escalating there and we would prefer the police to handle any incidents, not people to get shot.”
The protest coordinator tells News 25 recently bleach was thrown at a solicitor at the same gas station.
The protest will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday morning. The gas station is at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Main Street.
